Welcome,

We’re Dan and Elaine Clarke.

We have been married for 38 years and we’ve lived at Springhill Farm for 23 of those years with our family; Alice, Jake and Matthew.

Cosy Cottage was our first venture into the holiday let business in December 2018 and Springhill Studio followed in Spring 2019!

Taken in by the places we visited on family holidays around the world we dreamed and discussed about owning a holiday home for many years!

We were fortunate to be invited by our friends Dave and Ellen to visit the Village of Champredon in La Creuse central France (where they are residents) for a long weekend break in July 2017.

We instantly engaged with the beauty of the La Creuse area and all it had to offer!

We had the most wonderful 4 days stay and couldn’t believe our luck when we discovered the next door property was on the market!

Dave introduced us to the owner and we were able to view the property on that visit and 2 weeks later our offer was accepted and the dream became reality!

We took full ownership of Champredon the 1st week December 2017 and visited the property many times over the next year, formulating a plan of restoration in-keeping with the French style and age of the property.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed hosting guests at Champredon since 2022 on Airbnb and also sharing the magic and tranquility of our holiday getaway with friends and family.

Springhill Getaways now brings all our holiday accommodation from North Yorkshire to La Creuse together.

Our Properties

A cozy living room corner with a rolled-up wool blanket draped over a wooden armrest of a sofa. Behind, a table lamp and a framed landscape picture hang on the wall. A window with blinds lets in natural light, and a decorative armchair with nailhead trim is partially visible.
A black wood-burning stove with a glass door showing flames inside, set against a white wall with a window on the right. Firewood is stored inside and below the stove, and there are baskets and fireplace tools nearby.
A wooden table set with breakfast items including croissants, a bowl of cherries, a teapot, cups, and a small jar, with a large purple floral arrangement in a gray vase in the background.
A dining table set with plates, glasses, cutlery, and woven placemats, with a bottle of red wine and a candelabra with unlit white candles. A fruit bowl and a table lamp are also visible in the background.
A small black table against a green wall. On the table is a sculpture of a woman sitting with crossed legs, made of bronze or similar material. To the left of the sculpture is a stack of books with mostly white covers, and one black-covered book on top. To the right of the sculpture are several books standing upright, with titles visible, including 'Les Francais' and others in French. In front of the books are two closed notebooks with a pen resting on them, and a string or cord around one of the notebooks.
